Tsuyu’s Original Design Was Much Less Expressive

In My Hero Academia, Tsuyu Asui is one of the most recognizable characters thanks to her wide eyes, distinct voice, and calm demeanor. However, her original design was quite different. Early concept sketches gave her much smaller eyes and a less expressive mouth, paired with a more downbeat personality that lacked the charm fans now love.
As development progressed, her design and character were adjusted to make her more appealing and balanced. The changes gave her a friendlier look and a more dependable personality, turning her into one of the most trusted and emotionally steady members of Class 1-A. These early tweaks were key in making Tsuyu a standout supporting character in the series.
